Custom Instructions tell Azura how you want it to behave — your tone, format preferences, expertise level, or anything else. They are added on top of the default instructions and apply to all new messages.

Set custom instructions

  1. Click the Settings gear in the header (tooltip “Settings”), or use the /settings slash command.
  2. Open the “Instructions” tab.
  3. Type your instructions in the text area. A live character counter shows how much room you have left.
  4. Click “Save”. The button flips to “Saved”.
When instructions are active, a note confirms: “Custom instructions are active and will apply to all new messages.”

Example instructions

The placeholder suggests examples like:
  • “Always respond in a concise, bullet-point style.”
  • “You are an expert software engineer. Prefer TypeScript and functional patterns.”
  • “Never add disclaimers or caveats unless I ask.”
  • “Respond in British English.”

Good to know

  • Custom instructions are stored in your browser only, not on the server. They will not follow you to another device or browser.
  • There are no theme or model settings here. Theme uses the sun/moon toggle in the header; models use the in-chat selector above the Omnibox.
